The CNRS, France’s largest public research organisation, has published plans that would allow anyone to signal an incident of possible misconduct for investigation.
The plans, which could come into force early in 2019, were outlined by CNRS president Antoine Petit on 13 November.
If implemented, as is likely, the plans would enable anyone to report an allegation of scientific misconduct to the CNRS using the email address lance.alerte@cnrs.fr. Each allegation would then be evaluated by the CNRS’s referee for scientific integrity, which is a recently created position. Theoretical physicist Rémy Mosseri has been appointed as the first referee.
