France will launch R&D funding competitions in high-density energy storage worth €30 million following a decision by the country’s Innovation Council.
The Innovation Council, which oversees the government’s €57-billion Grand Investment Plan for 2018-22, designated mobile high-density energy storage as a grand challenge at its second meeting on 13 December.
In a statement published the following day, the government said that it would appoint a project manager for the challenge within the next two months. This person will assess the landscape in high-density energy storage and help define the parameters for the funding competitions.
