French higher education institutions, which until now have had only one legal framework for setting up partnerships with other institutions, have been given additional options for doing so.
Frédérique Vidal, France’s research minister, published a “ministerial ordonnance” on 13 December outlining three new legal frameworks for collaborations involving universities, grandes écoles and/or public research institutions.
Similar to a decree, the ordonnance has already become a part of French law, but only temporarily. It will be debated and most likely ratified by parliament early on in 2019.
