Franco-Norwegian scientist honoured at Paris ceremony amid questions around political support for research
Emmanuel Macron, the French president, personally awarded one of France’s highest scientific accolades last night to a Franco-Norwegian physical chemist.
Macron attended a ceremony honouring 80 years of the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) on 26 November. Held at the Palais de la Découverte in the Grand Palais museum complex on the banks of the Seine, the main event was the presentation of the CNRS gold medal to physical chemist Thomas Ebbesen.
