University heads back multi-year budget plan
The CPU, France’s association of university presidents, has given its backing to plans announced by prime minister Édouard Philippe to commit some funding for research over several years rather than just one as at present. In a statement published on 7 February, the CPU said that the plans “highlighted a shared vision [between the CPU and government] of the importance of research for the development of society. There can be no scientific progress without long-term funding at a sufficient level.”
