Consultation on multi-year R&D budget opened

The French government has launched a consultation with researchers on committing some of the national R&D budget over several years, rather than annually.

On 19 March, the government opened its online portal allowing researchers to submit recommendations for the introduction of multi-year funding. The deadline for submissions is 15 May, with the contributions set to be summarised and compiled in July.

Researchers have been asked to consider the implications of a multi-year budget on three areas: innovation and partnerships with business, competitive funding and institutional support, and careers in research.
