Engineering schools select leader

Jacques Fayolle, the director of Télécom Saint-Etienne, has been elected as president of the Cdefi association of French engineering schools.

Fayolle had been interim director of Cdefi since 1 March, when previous president Marc Renner, director of the Insa Strasbourg engineering school, stepped down. Fayolle, who has led Télécom Saint-Etienne since 2012, also served as interim president of Cdefi in 2017 when Armel de la Bourdonnaye resigned after only two months in charge.

In a vote for the director position on 14 June, Fayolle defeated Pierre Koch, president of the University of Technology of Troyes, winning 61 per cent of votes to Koch’s 37 per cent.
