Public body that supported startups filing and protecting IP is scrapped
France Brevets, the public body that gives support and advice to startups and small and medium-sized businesses deemed to have internationally competitive potential, is to be wound up as part of an overhaul of intellectual property (IP) strategy.
A government statement published on 21 October described France Brevets (which translates as France Patents), set up in 2011, as a “unique entity in Europe”, that was charged with a “proactive and effective IP policy, to better equip companies and establishments higher education and research in the highly competitive international market of innovation”.
