Applicants concerned as ‘Galaxie’ implodes
The French government has apologised after a computer system that handles applications for jobs and salary add-ons for lecturers went offline as important deadlines loomed.
The website Galaxie was inaccessible for several days from 31 March, just when many applications needed to be filed. Visitors to the site were frequently confronted with the message “Warning: Galaxie cannot be accessed”, forcing the ministry of higher education and research to extend application deadlines by a week while it scrambled to fix the problem.
