Unions criticise French space agency’s pivot towards startups
Union leaders at Cnes, the French national centre for space studies, have criticised the centre’s latest contract on research objectives and performance, saying it sacrifices long-term research in favour of risky private ventures.
The unions published an open letter about the contract in the newspaper Le Monde on 18 May. The contract was signed by Cnes president Philippe Baptiste on 11 January and introduces an openness to startup ventures.
