Inspectors find ‘serious failings’ at infectious disease centre

Health and research ministers will refer matter to public prosecutor as former director rejects claims

A report by two government inspectorates has detailed “serious failings” in both clinical and research practice at the Marseille University Hospital Institute for Infectious Diseases while it was under the direction of controversial microbiologist and doctor Didier Raoult.

Some of these failings may have amounted to offences, say France’s research and health ministers.
