In depth: The CNRS, France’s largest public research organisation, is emerging as the lead organisation aiming toward the creation of an international scientific body with oversight of the health of the world’s oceans. The International Panel for Ocean Sustainability would be modelled on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which does not evaluate ocean health as part of its remit.
