French research agency says move is “first step” in switch to using free bibliographic tools
Researchers at the CNRS, France’s interdisciplinary research agency, no longer have access to the Scopus publications database owned by the research services company Elsevier, after the agency cancelled its subscription.
In a statement, the agency said the move was in line with its “ambitious open-science policy” and was the first step towards cancelling subscriptions to all commercial bibliographic databases.
