Next French rare disease plan will promote innovation

Pharmaceutical industry pledges commitment to delayed fourth national plan

France’s next national plan for rare diseases will be focused on stimulating R&D and innovation, health minister Catherine Vautrin has said.

At a meeting with the French Rare Diseases Alliance on 29 February, Vautrin promised to publish the fourth iteration of France’s national plan for rare diseases before the summer. The previous rare disease plan, which was launched in July 2018 and was set to run for four years, was extended for a further year in 2022, and then again the following year.
