France ‘must increase funding for biomedical research’

National medical research agency should become a “French-style NIH”, says government-commissioned report

Biomedical research in France operates in a context of “chronically insufficient” funding and overly complex organisation, the authors of a government-commissioned report have said.

In their renovation plan for biomedical research, Anne-Marie Armanteras and Manuel Tunon de Lara list 70 recommendations to turn around “the situation of decline” they say has been prevalent for at least 20 years.
