Retailleau pledges zero tolerance of campus occupations

But French research minister rejects call to withdraw funding from Sciences Po after pro-Palestine protests

Sylvie Retailleau, France’s research and higher education minister, has said the government will not tolerate campus occupations by students protesting what they see as French support for Israel’s military actions in Gaza.

Students have occupied campuses across France, particularly in Paris, where occupations took place at the Sciences Po grande école and at Sorbonne University. Both occupations were short-lived and broken up by the police.
