Zu Guttenberg takes EU role as internet freedom promoter

Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg, Germany’s disgraced ex-defence minister, is trying his luck in Brussels as an internet freedom promoter.

Zu Guttenberg is joining Commissioner Neelie Kroes’ Digital Agenda directorate general, it was announced on 12 December. He will work with the commissioner on the EU’s No Disconnect strategy, which aims to use the internet to promote democratic development and political freedom.
