The IFM-Geomar ocean research institute in Kiel has become part of the Helmholz Association of research centres, it was announced on 5 January.
IFM-Geomar will now receive 90 per cent of its funding from the German government, and only 10 per cent from the government of Schleswig-Holstein, thus securing the institute’s future.
