Neumayer Antarctic station becomes climate research centre

The German Antarctic research station Neumayer III has become an official international climate monitoring station.

The station, and its predecessors, has measured temperatures every day for the past 30 years, and the World Meteorological Organisation has now accepted their findings. It was declared a WMO climate research station on 12 January.
