Hesse embarks on round of education funding

A total of €380 million is to be spent on higher education in Hesse in the next two years, according to the Land’s latest higher education compact.

The Pact 2020 funding is part of the German government’s economic stimulus package, and will be used to create more student places in Hesse. About €50m of the funding will be spent on “emergency” projects, such as setting up teaching facilities in containers at heavily oversubscribed universities.
