DFG introduces ombudsperson training

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, Germany’s largest public research funder, is boosting training for ombudspersons at DFG-funded institutes.

A code of best practice, launched during a DFG meeting on 30 October, spells out ways of working that ensure scientific excellence, and outlines methods of coping with conflicts and uncertainties in scientists’ working lives. Apart from the usual training in scientific ethics and good practice, the DFG will also offer training for ombudspersons to deal with conflicts in research teams and investigate claims of misconduct.
