DFG acts on two cases of research misconduct

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft has meted out punishments to two scientists found guilty of scientific misconduct and misinformation.

The DFG, Germany’s largest public research funder, said that when applying for its grants the two scientists had deliberately provided false information.

The first scientist said that a research paper he had written was “in press”, when in reality it was still under preparation, the DFG said. This was discovered by one of the funder’s auditors.
