Six distinguished scientists have been awarded Alexander von Humboldt Professorships, worth up to €5 million each.
The researchers, who are all from outside Germany, will travel to the country to work on research projects that will be financed by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and will last for at least five years.
The group includes four men and two women, from Switzerland, Austria and the United States. Their disciplines are physics and economics.
