Annette Schavan, Germany’s ousted research minister, strengthened and supported science during her term, according to the Stifterverband, the German association of research sponsors.
The organisation delivered its praise on 14 February, a week after Schavan stepped down after being unable to shake off allegations that she plagiarised her PhD. In the statement, research funders spoke out in support of Schavan’s work as minister, and said they regretted seeing her go.
