A centre for research into brewery technology and beverage quality has opened its doors in Weihenstephan, Bavaria.
The International Centre for Beverage Science, which has been under construction since 2010, is managed jointly by the local university and the Bavarian state brewery, both located in the town. The centre is partly funded by the Bavarian research ministry, but also receives money from collaborations with local academia and businesses.
“Weihenstephan has been an international trade mark for brewing and drinks technology for many years,” said Wolfgang Heubisch, Bavaria’s research minister, during the centre’s opening ceremony on 22 April. “This is where the challenges of food and beverage science will be solved,” he said.
