State continues digitisation drive

Bavaria has put together an expert commission to create 20 professorships in digitisation at the state’s universities.

On 17 April, the state’s ministry for education and science announced that an independent committee had been set up and would be chaired by Peter Liggesmeyer, the director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering.

The move to create the professorships is part of the ZDB initiative agreed in March, to bring university research and industrial development closer together. The committee’s first task will be to choose the exact topics for the professorships, after which universities will apply to host them.
