Germany sets strategy on antibiotic resistance

The German government has approved a ministerial strategy advocating a unified approach to combating antimicrobial resistance.

Dart 2020, a strategy designed jointly by the ministry of health, ministry of food and agriculture and ministry of research and education, specifies a variety of measures that should be taken in parallel in human and veterinary medicine to prevent antimicrobial resistance.

According to a government statement published on 13 May, the strategy’s primary focus is on a One Health approach, which involves close cooperation between medics, vets, researchers, German states and other countries in the fight against antimicrobial resistance.
