Climate researchers seek ‘seamless’ modelling system

The DKK, an umbrella organisation for Germany’s climate researchers, has laid out its priorities for the next 10 years.

In a position paper published on 10 June, the DKK says that the main aims for scientists, society and policymakers should be to close gaps in our understanding of the climate system, deal with climate risks and develop more tailored forms of policy advice by reassessing the role of climate science in a democratic society.

To improve understanding of the climate, the researchers say that observation systems should be developed and expanded, and that a national modelling strategy should be created to make regional climate predictions more reliable.
