Advisory forum picks hi-tech priorities

The group advising Germany’s federal government on its hi-tech strategy has chosen eight thematic areas it will focus on in the build-up to the strategy’s next phase.

On 30 June, the Stifterverband, an association of German research funders, announced that the Hi-tech Forum, which was set up to formulate research tasks, provide concrete recommendations and consider future scenarios, had chosen eight specific areas in which to advise the government.

The eight priorities are: barriers and routes to success in technology transfer and cooperation between science and industry; the effectiveness of the innovation system and the innovativeness of small and medium-sized businesses; the participation and transparency of different partners in the innovation process; innovative work environments; internationalisation; autonomous systems; sustainable development; and digitisation, particularly in the health system.
