Germany and France collaborate on security research

France and Germany have announced a joint initiative to study the security of cities.

The BMBF, the German federal education and research ministry, and the ANR, France’s national research agency, will cooperate on the programme, which aims to protect civilians better in public spaces, including markets, shopping centres, parks and schools.

The initiative will draw on experts from academia and industry to develop innovative strategies that will help emergency services function better in a crisis.
