The government of Baden-Württemberg has poured €1.3 million into a fund to support start-ups created by science students and postdocs.
The investment, announced on 10 May, will provide funding for early-career scientists who are planning to set up their own business based on an invention or an innovative idea through the existing Young Innovators fund.
The goal of the fund is to turn research results into products and services that support the state’s economy, Theresia Bauer, the state’s research minister, said. “We want to strengthen business thinking at our universities in order to turn Baden-Württemberg into the most dynamic start-up region in Europe,” she said.
