State aims to make nursing more attractive

Four institutes in Baden-Württemberg have formed a research alliance to develop strategies aimed at overcoming the state’s lack of skilled nurses.

The number of people in need of care in the state is expected to rise from 299,000 to 402,000 by 2030, according to the state statistics office—and no corresponding rise in nursing staff is predicted.

To find solutions to this problem, the Esslingen University of Applied Sciences, the University of Applied Sciences Ravensburg-Weingarten, the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Freiburg and the University of Tübingen’s Institute for Applied Economic Research have formed a research alliance, Care4care, backed with €1.4 million from the state and the EU. The project will last for three years.
