Fraunhofer aims to shape societal impact

The Fraunhofer Society has set up an alliance to help it understand technological developments and shape their long-term impact on society.

The alliance, which began its work on 1 July, comprises four research institutions: the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering, the Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economy, the Fraunhofer Institute for Technological Trend Analysis, and the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research.

Its focus will be on strengthening the society’s dialogue with politics, business and broader society in research, technology and innovation policy. It will also be a platform for questions about the future of technologies with systemic relevance.
