Germany’s goal to increase international students by 2020 has already been achieved, with more than 355,000 students from abroad studying at German universities this autumn.
The numbers, released by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) on 12 July, are an increase on 2016, when about 340,000 international students were in the country. The rise makes Germany the fifth most popular destination for students on the move, the DAAD said, behind the United States, the UK, Australia and France.
