Centre to explore Romany discrimination

A research centre focused exclusively on the topic of hostility towards Romany people has been launched in Baden-Württemberg.

The centre will focus on the causes, forms and consequences of anti-Romany views and actions from the middle ages to the present day. It is also expected to open up a public dialogue on the topic.

Heidelberg University is hosting the centre, which opened on 28 July. Baden-Württemberg’s state science ministry will provide funding of about €220,000 a year, it said in a statement.
