The German science and technology company Merck is to establish a Global Oncology Big-Data Alliance jointly with Project Data Sphere, which compiles clinical trials data.
Merck, which is based in Darmstadt, said in a statement on 11 September that the alliance would aim to improve open access to anonymised patient datasets in order to boost the development and delivery of novel approaches in cancer care.
“The ultimate goal of our alliance with Project Data Sphere is to unleash the power of big data to bring value to cancer patients,” said Belén Garijo, Merck’s chief executive for healthcare.
