Funders aim to improve students’ data literacy

The Stifterverband, an association of German research funders, is offering three universities €250,000 each to develop data literacy modules that can be incorporated into bachelors, masters or PhD degrees.

The call for proposals, delivered in collaboration with the philanthropic Heinz Nixdorf Foundation, was announced on 21 March. All universities in Germany are eligible to apply, and projects are expected to last for several years.

A prerequisite is that the data literacy module must ultimately be made available to students in all subject areas, or at least to a cross-faculty target group.
