Fraunhofer forms green energy innovation network

Germany’s Fraunhofer Society has formed a network with businesses from different industries to work on an integrated approach to the country’s transition to greener energy.

The Open District Hub aims to use digital innovations, technological advances and the latest research results to cut greenhouse gas emissions at a district level, using locally generated renewable energies, Fraunhofer said in a statement on 10 April.

The hub as 14 founding members, representing industries including electricity, heat, air conditioning and mobility. They will work on digital, economic and regulatory ways to bring their industries through the energy transition.
