Minister announces agency for disruptive innovation

The German government plans to launch a national agency to support market-creating innovation—Sprunginnovationen—to boost start-ups and help small-scale entrepreneurs.

Anja Karliczek, Germany’s research minister, announced plans to create the agency at the country’s annual innovation summit in Berlin on 17 April. She said that Germany needs to get better at offering finance and support to innovators.

“We need innovations with the potential to crack open new markets,” she said. “That’s why I want to create something the German innovation system is lacking so far.”
