Germany’s government has passed its High-Tech Strategy 2025, which promises to tackle social challenges, future-proof the country and establish a culture of innovation and risk-taking.
The plan is an extension of Germany’s existing high-tech strategy. This strategy has contributed to the country being one of the few EU member states to hit the Europe 2020 target of spending 3 per cent of GDP on R&D ahead of schedule, the federal education ministry said.
The High-Tech Strategy 2025, published on 5 September, sets in stone the government’s commitment to increasing that proportion to at least 3.5 per cent.
