Germany and its scientific system make a positive impression on visiting scientists, a study has found—but the country’s complex bureaucracy received negative reviews.
A survey of more than 1,800 research fellows who spent time in Germany through funding from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation showed an overall good impression. Particular praise was given to Germany’s support for science, its tolerance, its democratic institutions and progressiveness.
The number of working hours, levels of gender equality and hospitality were also rated positively when compared internationally.
