More students pick a science, technology, engineering or maths subject at university in Germany than in any other OECD country, a report has shown.
The OECD’s Education at a Glance 2019 report, published on 10 September, awarded good scores to the teaching of STEM subjects in Germany’s education system.
It says that around 40 per cent of all students starting a bachelors degree or equivalent professional education programme in Germany choose a STEM subject—the highest percentage across the OECD. By comparison, the OECD average is 27 per cent.
