DFG eases financial rules in response to pandemic

Public funder extends accounts periods and secures contracts for doctoral students

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, Germany’s largest public research funder, has launched special measures to help scientists during the coronavirus pandemic, including simplified budget extensions.

The DFG released a statement on 19 March detailing some of the measures it would take. For example, invoicing deadlines can be automatically extended until the end of the current budget year without the need for extra approval.
