Universities demand clear lockdown exit strategy

Anger from associations as schools and shops open despite slow vaccine progress

The German University Association and the German Rectors’ Conference have called for a formal exit scenario from the national Covid-19 lockdown, urging politics to consider the needs of universities.

The German University Association (DHV) demanded that university employees be put on an equal footing with teachers in terms of vaccine priorities. At present, schoolteachers are considered a priority but academics do not qualify for speedy vaccination.
