DAAD starts scholarship for students under threat

Grants will help those in danger at home finish their studies and research in Germany

The German Foreign Office and the German Academic Exchange Service have teamed up on a scholarship programme for budding academics facing unsafe conditions at home.

The Hilde Domin programme is open to open doctoral candidates and students who are in danger in their home countries and cannot continue their studies or research locally, the partners said. “We experience time and again that students and doctoral candidates are threatened and denied the right to education,” said Joybrato Mukherjee, president of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
