Munich universities team up for competitiveness

Forum is tasked with developing joint research, while Max Planck institute merger boosts life sciences

The Ludwig-Maximilians Universität Munich (LMU) and the Technical University of Munich (TUM) are planning to establish the ‘One Munich Strategy Forum’ to jointly develop new research fields and catch up with leading science regions.

The initiative, announced by the two partners on 29 April, will be funded with €2.5 million per year from the Bavarian research ministry. Non-university institutes are also involved, in addition to partners from the economic, cultural and community sectors, according to the announcement.
