Humboldt files complaint over fixed-term contracts law

University tells German constitutional court that Berlin state may have “exceeded its competence”

The Humboldt University in Berlin has filed a complaint with Germany’s Federal Constitutional Court over a provision in Berlin’s new higher education law which states that all postdocs must be offered long-term contracts.

The university said it is looking for clarification on whether the state of Berlin has exceeded its legislative competence with regards to one paragraph in the law.
