German institutions and state ministers plead to keep the lights on as gas supplies dwindle
German science organisations have warned that the “imminent” threat of an energy shortage in the country could hit science and universities.
The Wissenschaftsallianz, the Alliance of German Science Organisations, issued a joint statement last week, saying that energy cuts would affect all research institutions. However, they would be particularly serious for bio-databases, large-scale testing laboratories, medical research institutes and the natural and engineering sciences.
