Universities warned to think carefully before creating links with Chinese institutions
The organisation representing academic staff in German universities has analysed the potential risks and benefits of forming research collaborations with China.
The General Faculty Association (AFT), a nationwide association representing more than 650 faculties, has published recommendations on how to conduct scientific collaborations with China. It believes there are huge opportunities for German researchers to advance their work through partnerships with Chinese colleagues. “Through cooperation, global problems such as climate change, new energy concepts and peace research can be addressed,” it said.
