‘Transformative deal’ signed by researchers and publisher

Agreement enables open access publication in more than 2,500 Elsevier journals

The DEAL Consortium of German scientific institutions has signed an agreement with the publishing house Elsevier to make their research output available open access.

The agreement will potentially cover research at up to 900 institutions, including universities, research organisations, federal and state research institutions, and government departments and agencies. Authors will only be able to publish articles under the terms of the agreement if their affiliated university or research institution has signed up to the process.
